Jimmie Williams, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 10, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 22, 1944 to the late James Williams and Rosa Carmichael Williams.
He was a hard -working and dedicated man who spent many years serving his community. Jimmie drove a school bus for Montgomery County Schools, where he was known for his kindness and dedication to the many students he transported over the years. He was also the owner of Gateway Farm Supply, serving local farmers and neighbors with pride. For more than 20 years he worked as a farmer, a life that reflected his deep love for the land and the outdoors.
A faithful member of Gateway Church of God for over 30 years, he devoted much of his time caring for the church property, always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
Jimmie found great joy in being outdoors, especially mowing and spending time on the farm. One of his greatest passions was Tennessee Walking Horses, which he dearly loved. Above all else, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his kind heart and the love he had for his family.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Jo Cline Williams; one daughter, Kem Spencer and her husband, Wayne; two sisters, Carol Stephens and Bobbie Mae Chaney (David); four grandchildren, Ashli Nelson (Ryan), Emily Spencer, Austin Williams (Emily), and Anthony Spencer; two great grandchildren, Cashous Spencer and Cain Hardy; one daughter in law, Michelle Williams; his beloved dog, Rudy; numerous brothers and sisters in law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Chuck Williams; two brothers, Don Williams and Charles Williams; three sisters, Nina Finch, Lola Vice, and Ruth Vice.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gateway Church of God in Mt. Sterling.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Gateway Church of God with Reverend Lowell Rice and Pastor Tim Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Machpelah Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Austin Williams, Wayne Spencer, Cashous Spencer, Terry Cline, Jerry Cline, Ryan Stephens and Matthew Vice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cordell Conley, Charlie Hiler, David Chaney, Steve Parker, Larry Joe Bishop and Anthony Spencer.
