Donald Cody Obituary

Born in Buffalo on February 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Marita and John Cody and brother of the late Jack Cody and Richard "Dick" Cody.

Don dedicated over 50 years as an optician with Council Eyecare in Williamsville and proudly served in the New York National Guard. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Cody; his children Scott (Becky Jarnot), the late Kim Cody Vail, and Jeff (Lauren Abbate) Cody; and stepchildren Jason (Ann Marie) Tamrowski and Shannon Tamrowski.

He was the beloved grandfather of Cristina, Sean, Jack, Zachary, Jacob, Luke, Jimmy, Alexis, Madison, Skylar, and McKenna, and great-grandfather to Owen.

Known for his generosity, humor, and infectious laugh, Don was an avid golfer, bowler, racquetball and softball player who cherished family gatherings.

A small service will be held at 10:00 AM Sacred Heart Church in Bowmansville, NY, with a luncheon at the Polish Falcon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo in his memory.

Although I've not seen Mr. Cody in decades, I remember him well and remember his laugh and enjoyment of the moment when I did see him. My Dad, Edwin Panasiewicz (Pine, as he was usually known at work), spent several decades working with and being friends with Mr. Cody through their employment at Council Opticians where they met and when I was younger, recall them socializing outside of work. So very sorry to hear of Mr. Cody's passing.

MR Cody was a very good friend for many years. He also was my first eye Doctor & when i did need help he was there. Back in the early seventies he came to a Lancaster LIONS MEETING when i was President & we had a full house as DON put a session about EYE & what you can do to protect them. After the Metting he he had 14 new Patients that would come & see him yearly. I would like his Family to know just how good he as & will always be remembered for all his great love of the people he served. GOD BLESS & Rest In Peace, AMEN.

I was fortunate to work alongside Don for more than forty years at Council Eye Care. Don became far more than a colleague, he was a trusted friend. He was incredibly hard working, kind and had a great sense of humor. He had a deep love of his family, and they were truly the center of his life.
I am grateful for the friendship we shared, and will continue to share with his beautiful wife Jan.
With Deepest Sympathy to his family,

Susan Spencer
