Loyd Yost Obituary

Loyd "Dale" Yost, age 96, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Dale was born to the late William and Elma May Graham Yost in Wheatland, WY in 1929.After graduating from high school, he honorably entered the US Navy and came to NAS Pensacola, serving as a Naval Aviation Cadet, where he met Ida Lee Salvant. They were soon married to a wedding lasting 64 wonderful years. Dale worked at the O&R department (NADEP) for several years and then the NAVAIRSYSCOMREP. He was transferred along with the REP office to Norfolk, Va. in 1970 and took a job with CNATRA in Corpus Christi, TX. in 1974 and finally back to Pensacola in 1979 to the Weapons System Managers office. He retired at age 55 and worked several years supporting the NADEP. When the NADEP closed he went to Pensacola Junior College and got an associated accounting degree and worked as an accountant for 7 years before retiring permanently.

In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death his loving wife, Ida Lee Yost; his daughter, Debbie; his granddaughter, Terri Lee Modlin; five brothers and a sister.

His survived by his grandson, Justin Modlin (Iris); a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until a funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with pastor Bob Govoni officiating. A committal service will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the US Navy.
