George "Henry" Hall, age 83, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

He was born in Lee County to the late George Hall and Retha Thompson Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Sam Hall, Melvin Hall, Joe Hall, Becky Holder, Berryman "Snake" Hall and Gene Hall. A life long farmer known for his tireless work ethic, and deep love for the soil, he spent decades cultivating the earth and growing tobacco, collards and sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes were his pride and joy, and thanks to his dedication, they found their way from his fields to dinner tables in all four corners of the United States. Knowing that families across the country enjoyed the fruits of his labor brought him a deep sense of fulfillment and pride.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elva Hall; sons Michael Hall of Ocean Isle Beach and Jason Hall (Mandy) of Smithfield; daughter Lori Utley (Mike) of Broadway; siblings Johnny Hall of Johnsonville and Ann Baker of Sanford; four grandchildren Dusty Hall (Angie), Brett Torres, Colby Hall (Caroline) and Cooper Hall and two great-grandchildren Kaleb and Karter Hall.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 2:50 PM at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Seymour officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Morris Chapel UMC, 8533 Cox Mill Road, Sanford, NC 27330 and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
