Jean Evelyn Perry passed to her eternal reward on Tuesday, January 28, in Goshen. The youngest child of Virgil Perry and Mildred Virginia Dye Perry, Jean grew up in the small town of Gibsonburg, Ohio, where she was surrounded by strong Christian values. Born in Fremont, Ohio, on Sunday, July 28, 1957, Jean graduated from Gibsonburg High School and then went on to earn an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Jean's parents and older brother Jack Perry preceded her in death. She is survived by her older sister Ruth Ann Perry Conway and sister-in-law Mary Perry; nieces Michele, Bekki, Kristen, and Ginger; nephews Michael, Darrin, Nathan, Trent, and Travis.
"Miss Jean" loved working with children and served in several childcare facilities in the South Bend-Mishawaka area. Jean's hobbies included embroidery, coloring, and word puzzles. She collected key chains and magnets and loved decorating her apartment with farm animals - especially cows. Her pets were her fur babies.
When Jean lived in South Bend, she worshipped with the Deer Run Church of Christ. In 2018 she moved to Goshen Greencroft Independent Living and placed her church membership with the Elkhart East Christian Church. Jean had moved to Greencroft Goshen Healthcare this past November due to kidney problems.
