James F. Yunes
June 3, 1952 – January 26, 2026
James F. Yunes passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Yunes, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage and a lifetime of love.
He is survived by his wife Deborah; his daughter Kelly Cadogan and her husband James; his sons Joseph Yunes and his partner Tammie Harvey, and Michael Yunes and his partner Andrea Gervais; and his five cherished grandchildren: Amanda Neilan, Kayli Birkmaier, Noah Yunes, Kiernan Birkmaier, and Darion Yunes. He is also survived by his brother Charles Yunes and wife Connie, his sister Deborah Yunes, his brother Kenneth Yunes, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters Nancy (Yunes) Lane, Eileen (Yunes) McIntosh, and Susan (Yunes) McIntosh, and his brothers Paul Yunes and Martin Yunes.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. National Guard, James loved his country and was a longtime member of the Alton and Rochester American Legions. He had a lifelong passion for auto mechanics and was always quick to lend a hand, especially to a neighbor in need. Known for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit, James never had trouble making people laugh and feel welcome. He loved motorcycles, the outdoors, and above all, his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he was a protector at heart and will always be remembered as a hero to those who loved him most.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would ask that you donate to your favorite Veterans organization.
Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
