James Alan Tingley
James Tingley was born on June 16, 1948, and passed into Jesus’ loving arms on July 7, 2024. He grew up in Redondo Beach, California, the best place for anyone to be raised. He joins his beloved mother, Caryl Tingley, and his treasured grandmother, Margaret Roberts, in heaven and leaves behind two sisters, Pamela Eidem and Susan Bradley. Jim often said he and Susie were two peas in a pod (Susie agreed). Jim graduated from Redondo Union High School then went to UCLA, (as did his mother), where he majored in business and graduated magna cum laude in 1970.
In March of 1984, he married LouAnn Chumich and they had two wonderful daughters, Megan Elizabeth in 1987 and Katherine Michelle in 1991. Megan and Katie were the center of their father’s heart the moment they were born, so he was thrilled when he became a grandfather in April of 2024 when Katie and her husband, Alex, welcomed their son, Jack.
Jim was a writer and leaves behind engaging stories that reflect his childhood as well as those that embodied his love of architecture through the eyes of a young adult. His family and friends will treasure those wonderful stories.
Jim filled his life with purpose and dedicated it in its entirety to his family, the one he was born into and the one into which he married and expanded his family. He will be missed immeasurably by his family and his friends, all of whom agree he made the world a better place just by being in it.
