Huey Pleasant Knapp, 93, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Ochsner St. Mary.
Huey was born on September 30, 1931, the son of William Columbus Knapp Sr. and Amelia Frith Knapp.
Huey was a talented carpenter, demonstrating an extraordinary ability to craft with his hands, further showcasing his creativity and resourcefulness. Huey also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His laughter and humor will be profoundly missed by those who knew him; Huey was known for his ability to lighten the hearts of those around him with his playful jokes and good-natured spirit.
Huey’s greatest joy was his beloved spouse, Mona Knapp, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. Their bond was a testament to love and resilience, and together they cultivated a beautiful life and marriage of 73 years, rooted in support and laughter.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Mona Ratcliff Knapp; three children, Rhonda Crosby and husband Bill, Huey Knapp Jr. and wife Vickie, Wesley Knapp and wife Cindy; three grandchildren, Crystal Lavin, Chaney Hayes and husband Clint, Taneka Ohmer; 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan Lavin, Donavan Lavin, Joshua Crosby and wife Ashley, Trinity Crosby, Mitchall Crosby, Elisha Ohmer, Andrew Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Desiree Hayes, Jolene Hayes; 6 great-great grandchildren, Miles Crosby, Tonie Crosby, McKenleigh Crosby, Huntley Crosby, Alex Hayes, and Timberly Paez; one sister, Shirley White.
Huey was preceded in death by his parents, William Knapp Sr. and Amelia; granddaughter, Toni Crosby; four siblings, Ruby Bivone, Nita Johnson, Maudell Melancon, and William C. Knapp Jr.
Pallbearers will be Bill Crosby, Clint Hayes, Joshua Crosby, Mitchall Crosby, Trinity Crosby, and Huey Knapp Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon White officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m., until 9:00 p.m., and again Friday, February 7, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Huey will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
