Henry E. Day, Jr., 79, of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. He was born on October 5, 1945 in Providence, RI to the late Henry E. Day Sr. and the late Margaret "Rita" (Mitchell) Day-Slinn.
Henry dedicated 35 years of his career as a regional sales manager with Barnes Group, following his earlier work with United Wire in Warwick. Beyond his professional achievements, Henry embraced life with an adventurous spirit. He found joy in sailing the waters off the Rhode Island coast and participating in various races. He also had a passion for speed, frequently drag racing at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut. His love for horse racing often took him to Saratoga, and his travels brought him to many destinations, but none more cherished than his beloved paradise, Hawaii.
Henry enjoyed good company, often with a glass of wine in hand. He was known for hosting lively gatherings, particularly his well-attended Fourth of July celebrations. However, his greatest joy in life came with the birth of his daughter, Sydney. From that moment on, her passions became his own. He took immense pride in seeing her achieve her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Dr. Sydney Day of Warwick, and her husband, Antonio Dourado III, of Cranston. He also leaves behind his sister, Peggy Marcotte, of West Greenwich, and his nephew, Jeremy Marcotte, of Greene, RI. He lastly leaves behind his beloved grand-dog Chowder, who was the latest of many dogs he held close as companions throughout the years.
Visitation will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 E. Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, on Friday, February 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., concluding with Words of Remembrance by the family at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's memory may be made to The Rhode Island Food Bank.
