Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barkley Funeral Chapel - Greenup from Feb. 13 to Feb. 14, 2025.
Grover Scott Garrett of Estill Springs, Tennessee passed from this life surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at his residence in Estill Springs, Tennessee at the age of 85 years.
A native of
Greenup, Illinois, he is the son of the late Walter Scott and Margaret Orla Sharp Garrett. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Susan Liehr and one sister-in-law, Judy Garrett.
Grover was a member of the Churches of Christ, and he attended Grundy Street Church of Christ in Tullahoma. A wonderful man with a brilliant mind, he earned a master's degree in mathematics. He was a minister and started traveling and sharing his ministry at the age of about 15 years. He was involved with church camp and loved working with the children, teaching them songs about Jesus and making them feel a part of the church services. Being a man of God, he always respected others in their beliefs and tried to understand their opinions, views, and thought process. He was a hard worker, and loved sightseeing, gardening, woodworking, driving his lovely wife also known as Ms. Daisy to yard sales and spending time with his children who he was very proud of. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely. Grover enjoyed singing with his family and telling others about Jesus. He had a way of holding folks accountable with a kind and gentle spirit. He was a great listener and advisor, and he believed that everyone deserved dignity above all else. His wife Carol described him as her friend and confidant, an honorable, decent and good man. Grover will be greatly missed, but we know that he will also be that man standing at the gates of heaven holding the gates open to welcome each and every child of God home.
A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in
