Frank Vogel Obituary

Frank Earl Vogel, 78, of Argenta, IL passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Frank was born on October 5, 1947 in Breese, IL, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Goldsmith) Vogel. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 8 years during the Vietnam War. He also served 2 ½ years in the Army National Guard. He married Cheryl S. Thomas on May 9, 2015. Frank served for 10 years as a Taylorville police officer then served as a parole officer for the State of Illinois and finally he was a correction officer at Jacksonville Correctional Center.

Frank always had a joke ready for his family and friends. He was a music lover, avid reader, coin collector, enjoyed traveling and playing games with his family.

Frank is survived by his wife: Cheryl S. Vogel of Argenta, IL; daughters: Loni Garren of Argenta, IL, Tara (Dave) Schultz of White Heath, IL, Joni Choudhary of Bolingbrook, IL and Jolene (Mike) Lamb of Taylorville, IL; brother: John (Mary) Vogel of Taylorville, IL; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Margaret Ess and Ruth Hanauer, brother: David Vogel.

A service to honor Frank's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation two hours prior to the service. Frank will be laid to rest at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society.
