Frank Fisher, a devoted man of God, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant to his country and community, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in
Merritt Island, Florida, at the age of 92.
Frank was born on April 3, 1933, in
Matthews, Indiana, to Paul Herbert and Florence Mildred Fisher. They moved from
Matthews, Indiana to Marion, Indiana where from an early childhood he discovered a deep love for basketball that continued throughout his life. His talent and dedication earned him a basketball scholarship to the University of Michigan. He transferred to Kansas State, continuing to play basketball, but due to the Korean War, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a Unit Supply Specialist. The Army recognized his outstanding basketball skills, and "requested" that he remain stateside to play basketball for the Army rather than being deployed overseas. After he was Honorably Discharged from the Army, he continued his college education at Ball State, graduating with a degree in Education.
At the heart of Frank's life was his love for his wife, Joann Cassie Fisher. The two met at a drive-in movie theater, where Frank noticed Joann had spilled her Coca Cola. Without hesitation, he bought her another drink. A simple act of kindness that marked the beginning of a love story that would last a lifetime. They were married on February 8, 1957, and built a marriage rooted in faith, devotion, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Frank was a deeply loving and faithful husband, cherishing Joann through nearly seven decades together.
Frank dedicated his professional life to service and integrity. He served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1971 to 1984. Upon his retirement from the FBI, he continued his public service with NASA. The family moved from Oklahoma to Ohio where he worked at Lewis Research Center. In 1986, he moved to Florida where he worked at Kennedy Space Center, ultimately retiring as the Deputy Director of the Office of Inspector General. His work reflected his strong moral compass, humility, and dedication to doing what was right.
Above all else, Frank was a man of God. He was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Merritt Island for more than forty years, living out his faith daily through kindness, generosity, and grace. He never spoke a bad word about anyone and was a steady example of Christ-like character to his family and community.
Frank was a devoted father to his four children, Mike, Teri, David, and Steve. He was also a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Known for his goofy sense of humor and love of silly dad jokes, Frank brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His gentle spirit and genuine love for people made everyone feel welcome in his presence.
Frank's life leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the way he loved his wife, led his family, served his country, and lived out his faith with humility and grace.
