Eva Sylvia Obituary

Eva (Aires) Sylvia, 91, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Monteiro) Aires, who both immigrated from Portugal.
She was formerly employed by Berkshire Hathaway and Vermette and Bates Insurance in New Bedford.
Eva had a passion for music and a love of dancing and wherever there was music, she would be the first on the dance floor. An extremely talented sewer, she loved sewing, playing cards, and board games with her friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Susan Sylvia of Acushnet; her granddaughter, Holly Bouchard and her husband Craig Bouchard of Acushnet; her great-granddaughter, Carly Paige Bouchard of New Bedford; nieces and nephews; her beloved companion Augustino "Tino" Almeida; and many close friends.
She was the loving wife of 52 years to the late Arthur Sylvia; the sister of the late Alice De Francisco of Florida, and Frank and Joshua (Ziggy) Aires of California; and the mother of the late Peter M. Sylvia of Dartmouth.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 10 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road, East Freetown MA, 02717, with everyone invited to meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
