Erik McCartney Obituary

In loving memory of Erik G McCartney, 44, who tragically passed away on May 2, 2024, due to an auto accident. He was born on April 25, 1980, to his devoted parents, Gregory and Ann McCartney of South Carolina, and his mother Patricia Salvanish Corman of Milesburg.
Erik's essence was kindness and generosity, traits that left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched throughout his too-short journey. Whether with family, pursuing hobbies, or on the golf course, Erik's warmth and compassion shone brightly. His love for family and friends knew no bounds, and his memory will forever be cherished by those he held dear.
Among his passions, Erik's fervor for wrestling stood out. He found great joy in attending PIAA State Wrestling Tournaments in Hershey with his grandparents and was an avid supporter of PSU Wrestling. Additionally, he found solace in fishing and hunting, embracing the tranquility of nature. He also loved to entertain and share his love through smoking, cooking and grilling anything from meats to pizza and was very good at it.
Erik is survived by his beloved son, Noah McCartney of State College, who was the center of his world. He is also survived by his brothers, Cory and Conor Corman, and Joseph (Nicole) McCartney. Erik will be deeply missed by his maternal grandparents, James and Shirley Salvanish of Bellefonte, and his paternal grandparents, Jane and Blair Askey of Mill Hall, and Bud and Patricia McCartney of Boalsburg.
Erik found companionship and love with his devoted girlfriend, Christina Fornari, and her children, Kelsey, Kailey, and Todd, as well as their grandchildren Ki'yonte and Ay'vion (his napping buddy), whom he adored. His faithful companion, Riggins, held a special place in his heart.
Erik leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were dear to him. He will be fondly remembered by Deb (Denny) Seaward and children Alexa (Lucas) Aughenbaugh, Colin Seaward, Tod McCartney and children Shea (Darin) Hazel, Landon McCartney, Caleb McCartney, Scott McCartney, Rodger (Sheri) McCartney and daughter Paige (Ted) McCartney, Matte (Tina) McCartney and children Emily and Payne, Sam (Amy) McCartney and children, Jesse (Samantha) McCartney, Elle (Jake) Rose, Tom (Paula) McCartney and children, Lea and Ben McCartney. Stephanie Cunningham and children Matt (Kim) Cunningham, Danny (Nicole) Cunningham, James (Kathy) Salvanish and children Jaime (Bill) Smoyer, Janelle (Brian) Price, Will Salvanish, Kim (John) Bumgarner and children Adam Murray, Amanda (George) Lauer.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Scott "Boozie" Corman.
A memorial service to honor Erik's life will be held at Family Life of Penns Valley, 108 Ridge Road, Center Hall, PA 16828, Friday May 17, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
