Larry Russell Halan was called home to our Lord on Saturday January 10, 2026 after 65 years of life here on earth. He battled MS for the last thirty years and cancer for the last ten months. Born in Oak Park and raised in Northlake, Illinois later settling in Bartlett, Illinois where he raised his family.
Larry loved to play both poker and golf, but he was best known for his one-line sarcastic jokes that often caught all off guard. He loved his family and friends more than life itself and would do anything for any of them.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Dorothy Halan, brother-in-law Tim (Jamie) Lichter. He leaves to mourn his wife Debbie, two children Brett (Jen) Halan, Brandi (Vince) McCann, two Grandchildren Russell and William Halan, Sisters Kathie Halan, Sandi Hardesty, Brother Michael (Karen) Halan, Brother-in-Law Mark (Theresa) Lichter, along with numerous Nieces, Nephews, God Children, Cousins and the very best of friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 24, 2026, at St Matthew Lutheran Church 24500 N. Old McHenry Rd., Hawthorn Woods, IL 60047. Visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Sermon 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to the MS Society or The American Cancer Society

Larry was a wonderful neighbor and a genuinely kind person. He and Debbie always looked out for others and made our neighborhood a better place to live. His loss is deeply felt, and our hearts are with Debbie and the family.

Deepest sympathies to the Halan family. The first memory that pops into my head is Larry taking care of Riley and I after school while our grandmother was sick and mom was away. Eating parmesan noodles and tomato soup on top.
God bless your family. May the memories of wonderful times get you through these hard times.
