Elizabeth Louise "Libby" Mason, 83, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Emerald Health and Rehab Center in Lillington. She was born June 24, 1941 in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Wade Clarendon and Hassie Elizabeth Brown Mason. In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her brother, Reynolds Mason; sisters, Alva Lee Thomas (Rex), Janie Seagroves (Charles), Kay Upchurch (Bennie) and Faye Upchurch; nephew, Keith Rex Thomas; and niece, Allison Upchurch Smith.
Libby is survived by her brother-in-law, Durward Upchurch; nieces and nephews, Robert Reynolds Mason (Heather), Anita Mason Shaver (Ron), Sharon Thomas, Reggie Thomas, Lori T. Chambers (Tim), Carlos S. Biediger (Dan), Steve Seagroves, Al Upchurch (Brenda), Jason Upchurch, Angie Upchurch Jordan and Bradley Smith; as well as several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and loving caregivers: Charlene Upchurch Harrington, Gail Upchurch Patterson and Lora Upchurch Lynch.
Libby retired from Stevens Milling Company in Broadway after 40 years of dedicated service. After retirement, she served as school secretary for Boone Trail Elementary School for several years. She was a trusted caregiver to many children in her home. She worked selflessly at the church as church treasurer for many years. She blessed many with her beautiful soprano voice in the church choir. Libby was a kind, sweet soul and a loyal and trusted friend and aunt. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:00 PM Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lillington. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedysis Hospice (220 New Fidelity Court, Garner, NC 27529); NC Baptist Men PO Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512); or Spring Hill United Methodist Church.
