Dorothea Wefing Obituary

Dorothea A. Wefing, who grew up in Montclair, passed away on March 18, 2025.
She was a graduate of St. Cassian School, Mt. St. Dominic Academy and Seton
Hall University. She loved children and was a preschool teacher, working at
several local programs. She also loved sports and played softball and soccer in
Montclair's recreational program. She combined her love of sports and of
teaching by coaching young girls in volleyball and softball. She was active in
Girl Scouts in Montclair and received the Girl Scout Gold Award. She was also a
devoted fan of Seton Hall University basketball and the New York Yankees.
She is survived by her parents, John and Dorothea Wefing, her brothers Paul
and John, her sister-in-law Amanda and her nephew and niece Luke and Callie,
as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly and
who returned that love. A wake will be held on Thursday March 27 at Moriarty
Funeral Home 76 Park Street, Montclair from 2-4 and 6-8PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on
Friday March 28 at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church on North
Fullerton Avenue. The family requests a donation to the charity of your choice
in lieu of flowers.
