Doris Dunlap Obituary

Doris Jean Dunlap was born on September 17, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Mary Viola Bivens and Wilburn Foster Dunlap, Sr. Doris passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025. She attended Parkland Junior High School and Louisville Male High School (Class of 1970) where she served as Managing Editor of the Brook & Breck student newspaper. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisville in 1974. Doris dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, eventually retiring from the Kentucky State Employment Office-fondly known as "Sixth & Cedar." In her later years, she found joy and purpose as a Foster Grandparent at Coleridge-Taylor Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Joseph Dunlap, Margaret Dunlap, Wilburn "Butch" Dunlap Jr., and Thomas Dunlap. Doris leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Jeana; her Aunt Anna Louise Bivens Williams; Uncle James W. Bivens; lifelong "sister-friends," Pamela Osborne and Cynthia Rudolph; along with a host of biological and bonus nieces, nephews, and extended family. Services will be held Wednesday, September 17th at Canaan Christian Church in the Chapel, 2840 Hikes Ln., visitation 10am-12pm and funeral at noon.
