Edinburg- Dennis G. Marshall, a cherished family man and respected community member, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024.
Born on August 3, 1940, in Schenectady, NY, Dennis was a beacon of dedication and loyalty throughout his 84 years.
A proud graduate of Draper High School, Class of 1958, Dennis furthered his education at the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, displaying an early commitment to excellence and discipline. His professional journey was marked by a distinguished 35-year tenure at General Electric Company, where he served as a Business Associate until his well-earned retirement.
Dennis's life was rich with interests and community involvement. His passion for travel was evident in his adventures across the country, particularly in his RV, embodying the spirit of exploration and discovery. He found solace and joy in the tranquility of his camp, where he relished in hikes, walks, and quality time with his family. An avid skier and boater, Dennis also took pleasure in the simple delights of nature and the great outdoors.
His commitment to faith was reflected in his active memberships at the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church and, more recently, the Edinburg United Methodist Church. Dennis's dedication to service shone brightly through his participation in the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout, and a leader in Troop 20 in Glenville. Not only did he guide his sons within the organization, but he also continued to support the troop for a decade after, serving as Committee Chair and instilling values of leadership and community service.
A former Officer of the Sacandaga Boat Club, Dennis's leadership and camaraderie were valued by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His favorite hobby, however, was unwaveringly supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports and extracurricular activities. Dennis was the epitome of a dedicated family man, always present on the sidelines.
Dennis's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his sons, Daniel Marshall (Deborah) and Kurt Marshall (Dianna), and his adored grandchildren who they affectionately referred to him as "Bapa", Luke Marshall, Lauren Marshall, and Grace Marshall. He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald Marshall, and sister, Donna Marshall-Mogavero. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Constance Elizabeth (nee: Sherman) Marshall, and his devoted wife of 57 years, Ronda Marshall.
