David Johncock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Gores Funeral Home on Mar. 15, 2025.
David Lee Johncock passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on September 5, 1936, Dave's journey through life was marked by a radiant smile, a kind soul, and a personality that drew people to him effortlessly. His 'dolly dimple smile', a term of endearment coined by his mother, will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dave was a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His beloved wife of 67 years, Helen, survives him, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life full of joy and memories. He leaves behind a legacy through his daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Low and Annette Krisko; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jerry) Seeger, Tyler Krisko, Mara (Michael) Mack, and Adam Low (fiancée Elizabeth Petring); his great-grandchildren, Trenten, Kaden, and Jillian Seeger, Chip Low, and Chase Mack; his sister, Janelle (Jim) Iles; as well as several nieces and nephews; who will all hold him dear in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Johncock, and his siblings, Jeanette Hoag and Dean Johncock.
Dave's working years were spent at Michigan Bell, from which he retired at the age of 57, giving him ample time to pursue his passions and interests. A man of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and tending to his garden. His love for dogs was unmistakable, as was their affection for him. A hard worker from his upbringing on the family farm, Dave also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as feeding birds and snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula. In true Michigan tradition, he was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Dave's adventurous spirit led him and Helen to travel extensively across the United States, visiting all but three states, often in a camper so their canine companions could join. He and Helen cherished their time wintering in Alabama. Family visits to Tucson and Wisconsin were always a highlight, as was the time he spent in the log home he built in Meauwataka, Michigan, surrounded by 40 acres of beautiful walking trails.
Dave was known for his eagerness to lend a helping hand, especially for his family. Dave was always supportive of Helen and her teaching responsibilities. Dave helped both his mother and his wife can tomatoes and enjoyed the simplicity and satisfaction of home-cooked meals.
Dave's love for his family and siblings was immeasurable. Described as kind, friendly, and gentle, Dave leaves behind a world that was undeniably brighter with him in it. His memory will live on as an example of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
A memorial service for Dave will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Prairieville Cemetery.
