When I am gone, I don't want a big fanfare; but I do want to be remembered as a giving-kindhearted person. It gives us great pleasure to share the life of Clifton Woods Jr known as Jr., Dirty Red, Uncle Grumpy and Red. He served our country in the United States Army; with an honorable discharge in 1953. He then moved to Chicago, Il. to work along side his uncles at Vienna Manufacturing and Distribution Facility. He invested his time and money in a family owned establishment, The Bird Cage on the westside of Chicago for many years. After retirement from Vienna after 30+ years Clifton moved to
South Bend, In.
A Lasting Legacy
In Dirty Red's free time, he enjoyed landscaping his property, he was well known throughout the city for his immaculate lawn; but he was also known for his recycling and re-purposing of EVERYTHING!! He loved his visits to Al's barbershop where he could hang out with Al and the fellas.
The family would be amiss if we did not mention and thank Red's caregivers who was there with him to the end; Bettie Woods-Starling, sister; Myra McEwen, niece; Bobby Woods, sister; Doris Gilmore, niece; Kenneth Woods-Adams, nephew; Stephen Gilmore, great nephew; along with Alcare and Hospice.
Clifton's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and those he held dear. Red will be remembered for his warm smile, sharp tongue, language and the countless ways he enriched the lives of others. Dirty Red's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
