Charles Emery "Chuck" Gilmore, 60, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Born on May 3, 1964, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Chuck grew up in Lake Station and graduated from Lake Station Edison High School as part of the Class of 1982. A talented athlete, he earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Indianapolis (formerly Indiana Central University), where he played in the 1984 National Collegiate Division II Baseball Championship and continued competing through his senior year. He graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
Chuck dedicated 27 years to a career in law enforcement, serving with both the Largo Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office before retiring in 2013. His commitment to public service left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the communities he served.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Kristine M. Gilmore of Vero Beach, FL; daughters Nicole Barodte and husband Skyler of Crawfordville, FL; Megan Mims and husband Jordan of New Albany, IN; Meaghan Singleton and husband Kyle of West Columbia, SC; son Ryan Nicole of Trinity, FL; and 13 cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jackie Jackson of Lake Station, IN; niece Mariah Jackson of Lake Station, IN; nephews Michael Jackson of Lake Station, IN, and "CJ" Fusko of Michigan City, IN. He is preceded in death by his son Dallas Snyder of Tampa, FL; his mother, Joann Gilmore of Lake Station, IN; his father Charles Gilmore of Lake Station, IN; and his sister, Debbie Fusko of Lake Station, IN.
In recent years, Chuck found joy in cruising and meticulously planning vacations. He was passionate about sharing every detail of his cruise experiences and eagerly counted down the days until he could return to his favorite destination-Coco Cay in the Bahamas. He also enjoyed watching Florida State University athletics, high-intensity interval training, balanced nutrition, reading, baseball, walking his beloved boxers, and modifying his Jeep for performance upgrades. A true movie buff, Chuck could always be counted on for a great film recommendation.
Chuck had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. He often spoke about God's mercy and grace and found peace in believing there was a greater plan for him. His family takes comfort knowing that he is now resting with his Lord and Savior.
A visitation will be held on February 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory, located at 916 17th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Please dress casually as Chuck would have wanted it that way.
Floral arrangements are welcome and may be sent to Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chuck's memory to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, FL.

I miss you pawpaw, you where always so kind and caring. I didn't get to meet you much, but you still meant a lot to me. I couldn't shake the thought of jeep rides together, more girl scout cookies, but I will never get that experience again. I miss you pawpaw

Love, Colton
