We gather here today with hearts full of love and sorrow as we honor the life of my dear sister, Cathylee Jean Prince - Cathy, as so many of us knew and loved her. Though she left us far too soon, the impact she made on our lives will never fade.
Cathy was born on June 24, 1991, at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, a beloved daughter to Kettly and Marc Philippe, a cherished granddaughter to Charles Duterville, Carmise Hyppolite, Marina Philippe, and Pierre Philippe, and a loving sister to Christson Philippe and me, Christa Philippe. She later became a devoted wife to Ruben Prince, and together they built a beautiful family, raising their two precious children, Carter, who will turn two on April 9, and Chloe, age three.
From an early age, Cathy's brilliance and determination set her apart. She began her education at Sacred Heart School, where she quickly became known for her kindness, intelligence, and the joy she brought to those around her. She continued to shine at McNair Academic High School, where she developed into a strong, driven young woman, always pushing herself to be the best version of herself.
In 2009, Cathy pursued her bachelor's degree in public administration at Rutgers University, where she left an indelible mark-not just in the classroom, but in every aspect of student life. She was an asset to the women's basketball team, worked at the university gym, and served as a community service officer through her work-study program. She embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and help others.
Never one to settle, Cathy continued her academic journey by earning her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Business from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, completing her program in December 2019. She had a passion for making a difference in healthcare, and she turned that passion into a thriving career in healthcare administration and management. Through her relentless dedication and hard work, she rose to the position of Director of Environmental Services (EVS) at Doctors Hospital in Modesto, California-a testament to her perseverance, intelligence, and leadership.
But Cathy's greatest accomplishment, without a doubt, was her family. She and Ruben built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. As a mother, Cathy was nurturing, patient, and endlessly loving. She poured her heart into Carter and Chloe, ensuring they always felt safe, cherished, and supported. They were her pride and joy, and through them, her legacy will continue to shine.
Cathy was a fighter in every sense of the word. She faced breast cancer with the same strength and grace that she carried throughout her life. She never let her illness define her. Even on her hardest days, she lifted us up with her courage, reminding us of the power of faith, resilience, and love.
On March 14, 2025, Cathy left this world, but her spirit will never leave us. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a friend, a mentor, a leader. She was light, love, and strength embodied. Though we mourn the loss of her presence, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived. Her laughter will echo in our hearts, her wisdom will guide us, and her love will surround us in ways we may not yet fully understand.
Cathy, you taught us to cherish every moment, to push forward no matter the obstacles, and to love with our whole hearts. We miss you beyond words, but we find comfort in knowing that your legacy will live on-through your children, through your family, and through every life you touched.
Rest in peace, my beautiful sister. You are forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
