Brenda Marie Owens was born April 27, 1948, to the union of James A. Clark and Dorothy R. Pierce-Clark, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Brenda received Christ at an early age, reaffirming her faith she was baptized again in 2004. She carried this faith throughout her life, serving as a beacon of love, and strength for her family and friends.
She was educated at North Division High School in Milwaukee, WI, where her resilience and determination were evident. In August 1966 Brenda married Robert J. Owens (whom she affectionally called Tex), and to that union she shared the joy of raising four daughters: Audrice Anderson-Gold, Renee, Jamelle and Robin Owens. Although their marriage ended, Robert remained a significant part of her and their children's journey.
Brenda dedicated her career to the healthcare industry, where her compassion touched countless lives. Prior to her retirement, she served as a unit secretary at Community Care for 16 years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
She found joy in life's most valuable pleasures cherishing time with her beloved grandchildren: Brandon and Quincy Owens, Jalisa Anderson, Jevontre Nation, Onye Nelson, and Madriel and Mason Wallace; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter, two great-great-grandsons and simple pleasures of fishing, reading fictional novels and politics.
Brenda's legacy of strength, candidness, love and kindness, extended beyond her immediate family to her siblings: Lorraine Clark, Donald Clark, James Clark Jr., Christopher Clark, Kevin (Sheila) Clark, Victoria Clark, and Richard (Cynthia) Clark; father and mother in-law: Edward Berry and Lee Esper Berry; brother in-laws: Dwain Berry Sr., John Stephens, and Kenneth Owens; sister in-law: Anita Owens. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and life-long friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James A. Clark and Dorothy R. Pierce-Clark; sister: Lorraine Clark; brother: Donald Clark; former husband: Robert J. Owens and daughter: Jamelle Owens.
While her earthly journey has come to an end, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who cherish her.
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
– Isaiah 41:10
