Brenda Kay (Breeden) Dixon Born: September 7, 1947 – Carbondale, IL Passed away: November 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda Kay Dixon, the beloved daughter of Walter (Doc) and Beulah (Choate) Breeden, was born on September 7, 1947, in Carbondale, Illinois. As an only child, she was raised with love and guidance by her devoted parents. After graduating from Vienna High School in 1965, she married the love of her life, Rolland Dixon, on July 11, 1966. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage and raised four sons: Stephen (Karen) Dixon, Kevin Dixon, Eric (Eileen) Dixon, and Jason (Jessica) Dixon. Brenda was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Finn, Tyler, Meghan, Jake, Maddie, Shane, Alexi, and Jaycee. Brenda was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Her caring and sweet spirit, along with her nurturing nature, touched the lives of countless people. She was preceded in death by her parents and leaves behind her husband, children, grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Keith Dixon. A lifelong member of the First Apostolic Church, Brenda faithfully served in numerous ministries since 1968. For over 20 years, she worked in food catering, retiring in 2009. Brenda and Rolland shared a love for travel, visiting 48 states-many of them after retiring-and exploring seven foreign countries, most of which were visited while Rolland was in the service. Special friendships, especially with Mike and Pat Soares, were forged along the way. Visitation will be held at First Apostolic Church of Aurora, 1690 Sheffer Road, Aurora, IL on Monday, November 25, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Graveside services will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL, on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:00 AM, with Dr. Brent Coltharp, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to CurePSP at psp.org, in honor of Brenda's memory and support for those impacted by progressive supranuclear palsy. Brenda's memory will be cherished by all who were blessed to know her. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Homes & Crematory, www.NelsonFuneralHomes.com or (630) 553-7611.

My first memory of Brenda was at the church. She was always sweet and caring whenever I talked to her. Brenda and Rolland were a wonderful couple. I am so sorry for his and their children's loss. She will surely be missed.
