Bethany DeMaranville Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 30, 2026.
Bethany Grace DeMaranville (Williams), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Homestead of Tonganoxie Assisted Living in Tonganoxie, Kansas, she was 92 years old. Born on November 19, 1933, in Clinton, Missouri, Bethany was the daughter of Ethel Ruth Jordan and James Elzie Williams. Her life was a testament to love and devotion, particularly evident in her enduring marriage to Jasper Demaranville Jr. They exchanged vows on April 19, 1953, embarking on a beautiful journey together until Jasper's passing in 2012.

Bethany cultivated a life filled with warmth, family, and simple joys. She was a dedicated homemaker who poured her heart into caring for her loved ones. Her hands were rarely idle, finding immense pleasure and creativity in the arts of quilting and crocheting, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful, handcrafted treasures that will be cherished by generations. She also found comfort and entertainment in the gentle stories and heartwarming narratives of the Hallmark Channel.

She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, survived by her five daughters: Donna Andersen and her husband Gary of Arizona; Debra Allen of Montana; Diane Hummell of Topeka, Kansas; Denise Porter and her husband Doug of Tonganoxie, Kansas; and Danette Wright and her husband Leon of Basehor, Kansas. Bethany also leaves her brother, Jim Williams of Bird City, Kansas; and sister Frances Sowers of Gallup, New Mexico. Her memory will be carried on by her fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her later years. She will also be deeply missed by a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit and kindness.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, located in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Funeral services celebrating Bethany's life will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. Interment will take place at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens in Shawnee, Kansas, where she will be laid to rest.
