Berdenia Collins Obituary

Berdenia Allene Collins, affectionately known as Dee, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the Ernestine Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on June 3, 1928, in Elkhart, Indiana. She was the daughter of Richard Summers and Mary and Bill Lykins.
Dee's legacy is carried on by her children: Alicia Pulliam (Ted) of Lafayette, IN, Karen Hines of Muncie, IN, Larry Horine (Brenda) of South Bend, IN, Dan Horine (Nancy) of Blue Springs, MO, and Mary Younker (Gary) of Chicago, IL. She was a proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory and the countless moments of joy she brought into their lives.
Dee was preceded in death by her first husband of 55 years, Harold Horine, who passed away on January 18, 2001, and her second husband, Lee Collins, who passed away on March 10, 2019, and her son-in-law Bob Hines.
Dee was a very generous, hospitable person. She loved spending time with her family and having big family dinners. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and crocheting. She spent her life loving her growing family.
Dee attended church all of her adult life until her age made it more difficult. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior early in her first marriage.
Funeral services for Dee will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15 at Palmer Funeral Homes ~ Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. A visitation will begin two hours prior at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 17 at Southlawn Cemetery.
