Adice Libby Schuchterman

August 7, 1922 - January 21, 2026

Modesto, California - Adice Libby Schuchterman of Modesto, California passed away January 21, 2026 of natural causes at 103 years old. Adice was born August 7, 1922 in Rome, Pennsylvania, to Rollin and Gwenie Taylor. She lived on a farm where they raised animals and crops including maple syrup which they sold in the community. She attended Rome schools through high school, became the valedictorian for her graduating class, and went on to attend Penn State University studying Home Economics. After graduating, Adice and her best friend boarded a train headed for California to become government food inspectors. It was while working in California that she met her future husband, Henry Schuchterman. She and Henry owned several farms and had 6 children, Karen, Linda, Connie, Anita, Henry and Sandra, Connie passing away at 6 months of age. Later, the family moved into town and Adice became a teacher for Modesto City Schools.

Adice loved to travel, garden, volunteer for the Escalon Historical Society, and participate in church activities. She took life in stride experiencing amazing world advancements from her family acquiring their first Ford Model T to using her own computer and participating on social media.

Adice is survived by children Karen (Gary) Balmain, Linda (Doug) Johnson, Anita Clements, Henry (Marie) Schuchterman, and Sandra Crough; grandchildren Jason Marrs, David (Sam) Seay, Nichole (Jonny) Kelly, Chelsey Schuchterman, Sean Henrie, Connie (Mason) Morel, and Blake (Sam) Crough; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held February 6th, 10 am at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson.
