Melvin Helsley Obituary

Melvin S. Helsley, 70, of Sharon, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA.
Melvin was born on November 18, 1954, in Warren, OH, a son of the late Wayne and Helen (Hanick) Helsley. He was a graduate of Champion (OH) High School.
He spent his career working as a welder in shipyards in the region. Most notably at the former Trinity Industries, Greenville and Lear Corp., Leavittsburg, OH.
A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of the Brothers Regime Motorcycle Club, Leavittsburg.
Melvin enjoyed being outside, watching birds and working on his pond. Above all, he was a family man and looked forward to playing with his grandkids and his dog, Kahlesse.
He married the love of his life and partner of 41 years, Patricia Gallagher, on September 25, 2004. She survives at home.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Patrick and Sean Jordan, both of Blackhawk, CO; three grandchildren, Erica Bolden, Patrick Laux and Trevor Lee; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Anniyah, Peyton, Norville, Ezra and Amiliano; and one more great-grandchild on the way.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Aletha Laux; a brother, Admiral Helsley and his wife Marlene; a niece, Milissa; and a nephew, Jesse.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut-Ridge Rd., Hubbard, OH 44425.
Calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon, Monday (03/03/2025) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be at noon, Monday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Robert McFarland, officiating.
