Warren J. Boss, 79, of Metropolis, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Cook County, Illinois on June 20, 1945, to Jacob Boss and Gertrude Scholtens Boss. He was raised in Chicago.
He attended Southern Illinois University and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Industrial Arts. He taught Industrial Arts at the junior high and high school levels. He also worked as a carpenter. In 1975 he became an employee of the Paducah KY Gaseous Diffusion Plant. He was employed there until he retired from the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) in 2003.
Warren was a member of the 32nd Street Church of Christ in Paducah, KY where he served as a deacon, teacher, and song leader.
Warren is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Boss. One son, Derek Boss (Stacie) of Cross Plains, Tennessee and one daughter, Lori Boss Konemann (John) of Metropolis; five grandchildren Caleb Boss, Lily Boss, Levi Boss, Nate Konemann, and Savannah Konemann; one sister, Jan Dryfhout (Denny); and three nephews, Jeff Dryfhout, Mike Dryfhout, and Brian Bryfhout.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Boss and Gertrude Scholtens Boss.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Ron Griffin officiated.
