Yoshie Maria "Mori" Jahn

Mass of Christian Burial for Yoshie Maria "Mori" Jahn, 88, Lawrence will be held 10 am Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She died February 25, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born February 15, 1925 in Tokyo, she was the daughter of Gosaburo and Yaa (Kawamatsu) Kanamori with brothers Shiro, Keichero, and Hideo Kanamori. Yoshie attended schools in Tokyo, Kamizaki and Nagoya, Japan attaining a Masters Degree in Dress Design from Bunka Gakuin School in Tokyo. She was the owner of her own shop, Kanamori Dress Shop, in Nagoya, Japan.

Yoshie married Samuel Jahn on March 19, 1957 in Shiner, Texas. They have four children, nine granchildren and one great-grandaughter. Son, Andrew and wife Sharon Jahn with children Noah, Joshua and Kioko Jahn residing in Allen, Texas. Son, Kenneth Jahn residing in Lawrence. Daughter, Debbie Dillon with children Samuel and Cody Dillon residing in Lawrence. Daughter, Clare and husband Jamie Galloway with children Corey, Sean-Ross and Jalen Galloway. Great-grandaughter, Maiya Lynn Galloway, daughter of Sean-Ross Galloway and Stefani Boehm. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Shiro Kanamori, Keichero Kanamori and granddaughter, Hannah Marie Galloway

Yoshie lived in Lawrence since 1958. She was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church. Yoshie taught dressmaking as a volunteer for the international program, Small World. She is recognized as one of the original members and offered 30 years of service to the program.

A rosary service will be held Monday, March 4 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Family will greet friends and family at 6 pm with the rosary service beginning at 7 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent to www.warrenmcelwain.com

Dear Jahn Family,

Sorry to hear of Mori's passing. Know you're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope in time the fond memories you have of your mother will help you through this difficult time. Reading Mori's obituary brought back so many fond memories of when we were little kids. ~Le-Thu

The Bong family: my now deceased parents Bob & Sylvia, my two brothers John (Houston) and Jerry (Chicago), and myself (Dallas) befriended the Jahn family when we all lived in Lawrence...my Mom knew Mrs. Jahn from the days of "Small World".
