William Rand Obituary

William A. Rand passed away on February 10, 2021 at the age of 77, in Eudora Kansas.

Bill was born November 7, 1943 to James and Jenny Rand. Born during WWII his mother cleverly made his initials WAR, which Bill was quick to point out, and used his monogram as his moniker loving to label his belongings and clothing.

Bill was a lover of mechanical pencils, rubber stamps, and all things magnification. He loved teaching lessons and spreading his vast knowledge to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and worked as a Mill Right where he learned and excelled at many trades. In the last years of his life, he spent countless hours teaching life lessons which will make a lastly impression on all that knew him.

He will be remembered as a lover of history, the "bald headed computer," books, guns, and ammunition, tinkering, storytelling, and spending hours watching his great grandkids while woodworking and eating popsicles in the shop.

Bill is survived by his three children, Leslie (Albert) Merritt of Kansas City, Kansas; Bill (Kathy) Rand of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Rachel (Scott) Boyce of Prairie Village, Kansas. Four Grandchildren, Jake (Kelly) Jones, Isabell Rand, Gus Rand, and Scottie Boyce. Two great grandchildren; Annie and Josephine Jones.

Bill requested no fuss for his arrangements and will be celebrated by his family with his ashes spread to his favorite spots in the countryside of Eudora Kansas and the Mississippi River so he can float to The Gulf of Mexico.

Bill and I grew up on north 51st in KCK . We hunted , fished and camped out as early teens . We spent a lot of time at the lake of the Ozarks in the late 50's . BIlls mother made the best donuts in Kansas City . I remember his younger brother John who we continually had to ditch . He constantly followed us around . I Lost track of Bill when he left the states and never talked to him after that . Great memories of our youth .
