Over the past eight months, while serving as Community Engagement Educator and Government Liaison for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, Bill had been an excellent mentor and guide to me as I began to live out the government liaison aspect of my role for the school district. I was very apprehensive about this part of my service to the district, but it didn't take long for me to realize that I was in good hands. Bill had served the school district as the lobbyist of record for many years, and his deep experience and wisdom gathered after serving in the Kansas State Legislature for several decades were invaluable gifts to me. I looked forward to continuing to learn from and emulate his quiet yet committed leadership around public school advocacy work.
I will miss you, Bill. Thank you for walking alongside me on this public school advocacy journey I am on.

Bill was a special guy and I am so so sorry that he is no longer with us! We both grew up in Parsons and he always stood out as smart, kind, good natured, fun and purposeful. I'm sure those qualities were just the right things for the work he did. My parents thought a lot of him as well. He stood out! I'm glad he has children so that some of his specialness will go on in this world. Truly sorry for your loss - and a loss for Kansas.
