Veronica Bahret Obituary

Veronica Jane (Mohr) Bahret of rural McLouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on February 10, 2022 after a long, hard-fought, and courageous health battle.

Veronica was born to Rod and Susie Mohr on February 16, 1989 in Lawrence, KS, where she lived more than half of her life. Veronica was the third of four girls, lovingly dubbed "the Mohr Four."

It was in Lawrence in 2007 that she met the love of her life, Blair Bahret, and the two were inseparable from that moment on. They married in Lawrence on October 5, 2013. Veronica had a fun and bright spirit and never knew a person or an animal that was a stranger. She had a contagious smile and laugh. Veronica was also incredibly artistic and often gave her beautiful handmade jewelry as gifts. Veronica loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed kayaking. She and Blair cherished their many fur babies: their dogs Capone, Gator, Black Bear, her very best boy, Rascal, and many goats.

Veronica found a career that she really enjoyed as an Administrative Assistant to Judge Dougherty-Bichsel in the Shawnee County District Court; mostly due to the work family she found while there. Those relationships were incredibly meaningful to her during her battle and she was deeply grateful for their unwavering support and friendship. Veronica and Blair are also very thankful for the friendship and support from Brian and Kathy Pine and the Pine Landscape Family.

She is survived by her husband, Blair Bahret, rural McLouth, her parents, Rod and Susie Mohr, Lawrence, sisters Elizabeth (Nolan) Haire, Lawrence, Katherine (Shane) Barnard, Lenexa, and Christina (Tyler) Kring, Prairie Village, nephews Cale, Henry, Max and Logan, nieces Madison, Evelyn, Coraline, Sadie and Courtney, Penny "Ma" Bahret, Ernie "Pa" Bahret, Dylan Bahret, Sarah Kraus and Summer, Lecompton, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that she loved very much. She is preceded by those whom she loved dearly, "Grammy" Rachel Mohr, "Grandad" Donald Mohr, "Grandpa" Cecil Woodruff, Aunt Beth Markley, and Uncle Lonnie Markley, as well as a grandmother and uncle, Frances and Cecil Woodruff Jr, whom she sadly never met but loved nonetheless.

The family would like to thank those at The University of Kansas Medical Center that lovingly cared for her for so many months and fought on her behalf to find answers, particularly the Burnett Burn Center team and the palliative care team.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Lawrence Humane Society or The Ehlers-Danlos Society.

I was sorry to read of this loss. It has me remembering so many of our days long ago when all of us were very small children. To the entire Mohr family, I´m sending all my love your way. I know Veronica was much beloved and so fortunate to have been born to your crew. Keeping you all in my heart and mind during this difficult time.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Rod and Susie, It seems like yesterday the girls were born. They would come out to the airport and run around and having the best time. They grew up so very fast and my heart to see this young lady life cut too short. No doubt she will be at the right hand of God and he will keep her for eternity. You all will reunite in the presence of God and have eternal life. Amen

I want to send my most positive thoughts and prayers for the Mohr family at this time. I have several connections with the "Mohr 4", as my kids went to school with yours. Rychel with Elizabeth, Dustin with Katherine, and Zachory with Veronica.....my 3 were the same as your first 3, and then you added Christina! I was the preschool teacher to the youngest 3 and Girl Scout leader for Elizabeth. I felt like I've had the treasure of seeing all of your girls grow up and was so saddened to hear about Veronica. I so remember her spunk and stubbornness and her nearly constant smile. Rychel shared a photo that must have been on her FB page from our Johnnie Appleseed days (with Suzanne!) and it made me smile and cry at the same time. Photos and memories are the best. Thinking of all of you at this time. Michele Johnson ("Mrs. Johnson")

Rod, Susie and family: I am so very sorry to hear about Veronica's passing at way too young an age. I remember Veronica from Sunset Hill School. She just lit up the room with her enthusiasm and friendliness and gave great hugs! My sincere condolences to you both, her husband, her sisters and all that loved her.
Sincerely: Aynsley Anderson Sosinski (mother of Alexis (Anderson) Tarlow and Katelyn (Anderson) Radloff.
