I add this many years after Terry's passing, because we became separated by many miles after our careers took us in different directions. Terry was a gentle giant who cared deeply about the natural world. While we worked together at EPA, I was honored to have such a kind and intelligent man in my life. Even though belatedly, I offer my deepest sympathy to Marilyn and the rest of Terry's family. I will miss Terry for the rest of my time here on earth. Farewell old friend.

I only met Terry that once, but even then I knew he was a giant of a man to match the giant redwoods he cared for each day. Marilyn, it was so very wonderful meeting the girls and your family. I will always remember the special nite at the Casino for our engagement 'party' & the touching song you chose to have played to celebrate with us. We love you three and hope to talk much in the future. Peace.

Dear Marilyn, Krystyna, and Amanda, I was so sorry to hear that Terry lost his biggest battle-he fought long and hard! Terry had such wonderful and contagious sense of humor. I enjoyed stories he told about various bear encounters in the park-he could put a pretty funny twist on them. My heart goes out to you, with wishes for healing.

Terry my friend, I will miss you dearly. You were a mentor to me, a role model, but mostly a dear friend that celebrated the achievements of my life and supported me during the rough patches. You were instrumental in my NPS career and I owe you much for the support and belief you extended to me. Whether you roll your eyes at this or not, your legacy will endure in me and in the lives of those you have touched. Speaking of rolling, I hope that wherever you are, you have finally learned how to roll your r's so that you speak more fluently in EspaƱol! Thanks for the laughs Terry. Saludos Amigo...

Terry was one of the absolute best professionals I have worked with in the National Park Service and he left a great legacy of restoration work at Redwoods National and State Parks.

This is very sad news. Terry was very knowledgeable, and freely shared what he knew in hopes it would help someone. His good humor and gentle smiles eased others into his circle of knowledge. Wherever he is now, he is being embraced because of his love for the earth and its creatures, including, of course, his fellow humans. My life is richer for having met and worked with Terry. Travel well, my relative. For Marilyn and the family, please find strength of spirit, knowing he led a good and full life. A good man's passing is never easy.

It was a pleasure to work in the same park with Terry. My classmates in the 1990-91 park service natural resource management trainee program are sending their thoughts about Terry. Terry taught a section on management of the Redwood Creek estuary (what else!" at our fisheries course at Oregon State in June 1991. That was the first time I met Terry. Ray Skiles from Big Bend NP summed up our appreciations as "Terry was to me an ideal NPS role model. His professionalism, diligence, and yes - congeniality were characters all to rare in the NPS and in this world. It's sad that he is gone, but his influences on places and people continue."

I was deeply saddened to hear of Terry's passing. He was an amazing and loving person and father. I have nothing but warm memories of him making us laugh, his accordion playing, and seeing him light up every time his daughters smiled. He touched many people's lives and he will always be alive in our memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am very sad to hear that Terry lost his battle with cancer. Terry was a great guy and close friend to me and my family. I was lucky enough to get to go fishing with Terry and the whole RNP group. Terry was always there for me with all of my troubles. I lost my oldest son Nick in 2010, it brings a smile to my sad heart that Terry and Nick are "hooking" it up. Marilyn if you need anything we are here for you! God Bless.

I was lucking enough to be in Terry's RNP gang of biologists from his first day as our boss to 1988 when I left the great Redwood Empire for a job with CDFW. I missed working with Terry and the rest of the RNP family and almost every year came back to visit and reminisce. It was just a few years ago that I had a beer with Terry, Marilyn and other RNP biologists at Six River Brewery. That memory and ones of being with Terry surveying streams, scuba diving, seining fish, collaring elk and running down bears in an airplane will stay with me forever. Terry was great person, fun to be with and the best boss I ever had; I am deeply sorry for your loss Marilyn, Krystyna and Amanda.
