Susan Wheeler Obituary

Thinking of Susan and her family at this time. Susan and I taught together, I have many fond memories of her as a colleague and friend.

Susan and I met at UNI while pursuing our art degrees. Susan was a good friend and mentor with our paths crossing many times in our pursuits as artists and later educators. Through the years our experiences included beloved companion dogs, family deaths and births, and summer travels as she expanded her interests into photography. Susan uniquely captured de-light-filled moments using a lens. She was happiest when she was capturing those images that she was closely connected to. A quiet curiosity with a sense of respect that allows surprise to happen. Even earlier oil paintings and trilogies captured the solitude, the grandeur, and the possibilities of color-filled light.

Susan was a good friend and co-worker. We taught together for several years. I remember when my son was young and helped take care of Whitney. Her beloved dog. He had so much fun helping out with Whitney. Susan was always good with kids. My deepest sympathies to her family. You are in my thoughts.
