Susan Kay Crandon

Crandon, Susan Kay, 70, left life on the earth for one with our Lord on March 1, 2013. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a very personal relationship with each member of her family. She was thought of as fun-loving, caring and completely interested in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Born in Kansas City on June 26, 1942, to Sue and Harry Gastel, she was raised in Pittsburg, KS and graduated in 1960 from St. Mary's Colgan High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Crandon, on November 19, 1960 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. They were married 52 years and celebrated their 50th anniversary with a grand affair in Pittsburg in November 2010. She leaves behind her five children: Brent (Elizabeth) Crandon, Lawrence, KS, Jennifer (Shawn) Pryer, Jasper, MO, Paul (Christine) Crandon, Derby, KS, Matthew (Landie) Crandon, St. Charles, MO, Suzanne (Andrew) Scott Brisbane, Australia. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Lauren, Stephanie, and Erica (Brent), Lucas and Logan (Jennifer), Colston and Thomas (Paul), Andrew, Hudson, and William (Matthew), Matthew and Samuel (Suzanne). Sisters, Sally Thompson and Dianna Palos, and preceded in death by sister Leanne Brooks. The family will receive friends at St. Mary Catholic Church in Derby from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 8th. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9th, also at St. Mary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Building Fund, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby, Kansas 67037 or The Lord's Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, Kansas 67214. Tom and kids; we love you so much and will miss Sue. I have such great memories of walking to your house after elementary school at Swaney, hanging out with all of the "old farts" while they played cards or went out, etc. (too many to post). I'll see you this weekend. Lots of Love!!!

Dear Aunt Susan, my memories of you are endless. One of my favorites will always be the week I spent with you one summer when I was about 9. We watched Andy Griffith, spied on your kids on the playground with binoculars and delivered Meals on Wheels. You are one special lady who will always have a place in my heart. I love you. Love, Anna
