Stephen Thornton Obituary

On the anniversary of Steve's passing, it is with great sorrow that the memory of our time working together comes back into focus. Too young, too much future ahead, too much missed. Words are inadequate at these times. Just know that he made a difference in my life. Be thou at peace.

Dear Kathy, Amy and John,
Remembering our days on Columbia Street and all of the wonderful families that grew up together! I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Steve was a great kid - and a good boy to watch as I do remember babysitting the Thornton kids! Please know that so many care and are thinking of you during this time. Dear Thornton Family,
We are very saddened to learn of Steve's passing. I called my dad when I saw the obituary in the paper. We reminisced about so many fond memories of Steve in the store. He was five years older than me and I used to make special trips to the store "for my mom to check on my dad" ...translation...watch Steve. Even then he was so kind and patient and always had the biggest smile on his face. He was never annoyed by my sisters and me hanging around to "help" him work. We are so sorry for your loss and will have your family in our prayers.

I grew up two doors down from Steve and graduated with him in 1979 from NC.
So many fond and happy memories as children and then young adults.

My prayers are directed to the Thornton Family on the loss of Steve. We, as children, grew up in the same neighborhood, I even babysat the Thornton children from time to time, and Steve was the child that gave the sitters nightmares. He always had a plan to see how far he could go to make the sitters want to run.....
so I know in his adult life he pulled a prank or too, a humor he had.....My thoughts are with all of you!

I worked with Steve for 3 years at Corporate Express/Staples in Lenexa, KS. Steve always was upbeat and very friendly to all of us there. He even hosted poker nights and golf afternoons from time to time. I'll never forget how much he cared about getting to know who he worked with. Shocking and terrible news. My deepest condolences.

Thornton Family- Tim and I were so deeply sadden to hear of Steve passing. He was such a kind person and always was smiling. We feel privileged to have known him. He will forever be in everyone's heart. Our deepest sympathy to a wonderful family.

I enjoyed working with Steve these last 5 years and will miss him greatly. He was a fine man, a real gentleman.

My heartfelt feelings of loss, but also gratitude for having known him and experienced his calm, steady, and thoughtful personality will be on my mind for many years to come.
