Stephen Putthoff Obituary
Stephen was born on January 27, 1949 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Donald and Ruth (Ingraham) Putthoff.
He worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier for over 30 years.
Stephen loved to spoil his grandchildren. To them he was known as Papa Steve. He had season tickets to the KU Football games and every year remained optimistic that they would do well. He was an avid KU Football and KC Royals sports fan. He was also a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Center.
He married Marlene Newell on March 20, 1993 in Tonganoxie, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Heidi (Jimmy) Barnes, Tonganoxie; Jeff (Peggy) Putthoff, Tonganoxie; Ted Putthoff, Lawrence; Tony (Mindy) Putthoff, Tonganoxie; grandchildren, Travis, Alisha (Cameron), Derick, Lorelei, Lani, Jared, Jacob, Kylee, Gavin; great-granddaughter, Leanne; his siblings, Greg (Laurie) Putthoff,, Tonganoxie; Tom (Andrea) Putthoff, Tonganoxie, John (Pam) Putthoff, Tonganoxie; Kathy (Larry) Franklin, Lawrence; Susie (Mauro) Salustio, Olathe, KS; Brother-in-laws, Michael (Janie) Newell, Southlake, TX; Mitch (Linda) Newell, Wichita Falls, TX; Marlon Newell Los Angeles, CA; nieces and nephews, Chris, Nick, Zach, Michael, Lindsey, Josh, Tyson, Emily, Preston, Adam, Joey, Vinnie, Gabby, McKenna, McGwire, Michelle, Kevin and TJ.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen's name to Catholic Relief Services and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

My deepest sympathies go out to all of Steve's family and friends. A really great human being has left us. Steve and his family are in my prayers. May God bless his loved ones and comfort them in this time of grief.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve´s large and loving family. It is so hard to accept that such a kind, loving, God-fearing and vibrant young man is no longer with us. We wish everyone peace and comfort as we reflect on a man that is now basking in God´s grace.

I´m so sorry to see that Steve has passed. I attend high school with Steve and remember him to be a nice person and liked by everyone. May the family be comforted at this time.
