Stanley Robinson Obituary

Stanley D. Robinson, 77, of Baldwin City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS. He was born November 10, 1940 in the coal camp of Gordon, Colorado, near present day Walsenburg, CO, the son of Clyde V. and Inez (Wakeland) Robinson.

He was a carpenter and formed Robinson Brothers Construction with his brother, Dennis. They worked on and built many homes in the Baldwin City area. He was a member of the Ottawa, Kansas Elks Lodge 803, and a past member of the JAYCEES.

A sprint car racing fanatic, Stanley's favorite driver was Steve Kinser. His favorite time of the year was August, when he could be found in Knoxville, Iowa for the Sprint Car National Championships.

Stanley was united in marriage to Cheryl Taylor on May 28, 1961 at her family home in rural Baldwin City, KS. They shared over 56 years of loving marriage. She survives of the home.

He is also survived by a son, Randy Robinson and wife, Susan, of Baldwin City; a daughter, Shelley Ausherman and husband, Bruce, of Baldwin City; three grandsons, Tyler Robinson and wife, Victoria, of Olathe, KS, Taylor Ausherman and wife, Dana, of Baldwin City, Landon Ausherman and wife, Chelsy, of Baldwin City; two granddaughters, Maddie Robinson of Solomon, KS and Emily Baughan and husband, Zach, of Galveston, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Benton, Kayden, Keldyn, Max, Waylen, and Chloe; three brothers, Homer Robinson and wife, Barbara, of San Pablo, California, Delmer Robinson and wife, Ann, of Fredonia, KS, and Dennis Robinson and wife, Lila, of rural Baldwin City; and several special nieces and nephews.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Robinson; and a nephew, Shawn Robinson.

The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, 1018 Miami St., Baldwin City, KS. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Ives Chapel United Methodist Church or Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Stan will be missed by so many... I will always miss his onery smile. Along with all of our great visits. He was a super brother in law and just an overall great guy.
