Shirley Parson Obituary

Shirley Jean Parson, 88, of Augusta, KS, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Wichita, KS. Visitation 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017, with Rosary following at 7:00 p.m., both at Headley Funeral Chapel, 813 State Street, Augusta, KS. Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Shirley was born in Fort Scott, KS on January 26, 1929, to the late Della (Logston) and Floyd Pitts, Sr. She was a registered nurse at Stafford District Hospital, Stafford, KS, and later worked as a nursing administrator at Mt. Home Hospital, ID. Shirley took great comfort and strength in her faith, and was very active in her church. On June 12, 1982, she married Bill Parson in Grandview, ID, who survives her. She is also survived by: son, Greg Cooper and wife Carol of Lawrence, KS; daughter, Teresa Cooper of Wichita, KS; son, David Cooper and wife Patricia of Sedona, AZ; son, Randy Cooper and wife Pamela of Twin Falls, ID; stepdaughters, Dianne Mitchell of Boise, ID, Linda McCoy and husband Jim of Hagerman, ID, Marie Austin of Las Vegas, NV, Della Sue Parson, of Wichita, KS; sister, Mary Beamon, of Buhl, ID; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Cooper, and her brother, Floyd Pitts, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. James Catholic Church 1012 Belmont Avenue Augusta, Kansas 67010
