Sherman Halsey Obituary

I worked for Sherman and his dad Jim on Sunset Bl. & Pacific Cst. HWY. Pacific Palisades, so. cal. 1.5 miles from my childhood home. I was the receptionist. It was a great time for country and my fave rockabilly and Sherman was kinda brilliant whereas his Dad the biggest country western booking agent in the world was real down to earth along with his wife, Minisa. It was my dream job in my mid twenties Sherman was only 2 years older and very talented. May he rest in peace.

I knew Sherman as simply a kid from Independence who did well for himself. He touched so many, either personally or through his videos. A great all-around person.

I worked for Sherman with Dwight Yoakam and just now read of his death. He was a visionary and a friend. I am shocked and saddened by the loss of him. Until we meet again...

I worked with Sherman back in the day, on videos for Dwight. What a warm, handsome, fun and sincere person. Just a joy to be around. I first learned of his passing last nite at the Grammy's and am so grateful to be able to post something today...the world has become a sadder place without Sherman in it. My prayers and love go out to his family. Rest in peace, my old friend. How you will be missed.

Went to school with Sherman in independence and was so sad to hear of his passing what a great person then prayers for his family

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

Jim & Minisa... please accept my love & blessings. I was deeply saddened to hear of Sherman's passing & my heart goes out to you. I remember all of you with great affection from the Jim Halsey Co. days in Tulsa & in Nashville.

Sherman will be missed!!! I spent some of my childhood summers with the Cook family in Independence and met/spent time with Sherman. I will have to look up some treasured photos that reflect some fond memories of that time with Sherman. My thoughts are with you and your family.

His father was a master of his work. I wasn't aware his virtues until today but know he will be missed just as his father was when made his transition.

I grew up in Independence and attended Riley School, IJHS and IHS with Sherman. It was evident from an early age that he would leave his mark on this world. We have lost a special and talented young man, but Heaven has gained a bright star. We'll see him again when God calls us all Home. Praying for Jim, Gina, Jo Ann, and all the family. God Bless.

Although I had only met Sherman a few times while working on "Oak Ridge Boys" Projects. It was my honor to have known him. Not very often does a person like Sherman pass through ones life and to have that happen in mine is a distinct privilege. Gods sped, Sherman. They have got one heck of a good producer in Heaven !!

Dear Gina, Paul and I are so saddened for your entire family with Shermans passing. This is truely a shock and we remember your families strength and closeness above all. His talent and personality are to be missed by all and our love surrounds you when ever you need it.

Jim and the rest of the family - I was so sad to hear about Sherman. Working for you both in the early 90s was a real highlight for me and I admired Sherman a great deal. I met Sherman, through our mutual friend, Merle Haggard. I had no idea of his background in the entertainment world. All I knew was that, he was kind, compassionate, and had a beautiful smile that brought you "in" to his world. This last year and half, of having Sherman's friendship in my life, gave me inspiration. He was a gentleman who respected people, spoke highly of his friends and it was obvious that he loved creating a vision. I want to"thank" his parents for their beautiful creation of Sherman . . . his presence here on Earth, will live within all of us!

Although I didn't get to know him well, I had the priviledge of working with Sherman here in Nashville. He was a visionary and an enormous talent and his loss will be profoundly felt especially by the music community here in Nashville. Love and prayers go out to all of his family and friends. I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sherman. I grew up in Independence and have many fond memories of Sherman and his family. I babysit for both Gina and Sherman and remember how much I fun I had. Sherman and his family have always been very generous to the community of Independence. There are no words to express how sorry I am for his loss and want the family to know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers,

Dear JoAnn, My heart cries out for you . Losing a child is the most unnatural thing to happen to a parent.My eldest died a year and a half ago. Remember the laughter times and remember you will see him again someday.

I had the wonderful opportunity to know and work with Sherman over a 25 year history. I am still so shocked to learn of his passing. My heartfelt condolences go out the the entire Halsey Family. I've known Jim and Sherman for thirty plus years. Both dear friends. Sherman was always full of ideas and thoughts on how he and I could make something better. I will truly miss him.
