Sharon Woolf Obituary

SHARON KAY WOOLF

SHARON KAY WOOLF of Christiana left this life unexpectedly on Thursday, January 10, 2013. She is preceded in death by her father Leslie Woolf, and her niece Dean Adell.

Ms. Woolf is survived by her lifetime partner Amber Caldwell of Christiana, her mother Judy Woolf of Bonner Springs, Kansas, daughter Amanda and her husband Mike Carroll of Hot Springs, Arkansas, grandchildren, Stephanie, Dayle, Matthew and Landon Rigsby, brother James "Duke" and his wife Cindy Mae Woolf, sister Martha Woolf, nephew Kris and his wife Amy Woolf, niece Jessica and husband Jonathan Losier, their children, Trinity and Andrew, step niece Julie and her husband Trevor Wagner, their children, Olivia, Nate and Meredith, step nephew, Kendall and his wife Jennifer Payne and their children, Natalie and Tori.

Ms. Woolf family lived in various places during her father's Air Force Service. However, she chose to make her home in Middle Tennessee, finally settling at her Dean O'Dell Farm (The Soridog Ranch) in Christiana. She rescued and "mothered" many animals; she leaves behind Amelia Earhart, Sabine, Sassy, Chrissy, Bonnie Joe, Margy, Annabelle, Jose, Ben, Rose, Abby, Zeus, Gypsy, and step-dog, Happy.

Her passion in life was learning and teaching. She taught children with special needs, their teachers and parents, her friends and her family. She served others at Cloberbottom Developmental Center, Cedar Grove, Hermitage Hall, and the children of Rutherford County Public Schools. She was a teacher, a Behavior Specialist, and most recently, an Autism Specialist, assisting over two hundred students in 20 schools. She recently completed her Board Certification as a Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).

Ms. Woolf was a charter member of the International Brotherhood of Pig Roasters (IBPR), an enthusiastic member of Zumba, and a lifelong earth mother. The chapters of Sharon's life have been filled with fascinating characters, plenty of action with plots and paths that twist and turn. We should all learn from her philosophy: Rekindle your passion for life! Ready-Set-Go! Be here now! "I am divine love. I invoke the purple flame". In lieu of flowers, Sharon would want us to adopt an animal, or "pay it forward" to others in need of love.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Woodfin Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. On line condolence may be made to www.woodfinchapel.com (615) 893-5151.

I just found out tonight (4-2-13) that Sharon passed away. I was also an autism consultant and we knew each other from trainings and other events. I know how much she touched the lives of children with autism. I'm very saddened by her death. She was a special person!

She taught me to listen to that inner voice inside my heart, that it would always steer me in the right direction. Her legacy of love, compassion and understanding will live on through the many teachers she mentored and the students whose lives they touch.

Sharon, what a wonderful teacher and friend you were to all of us. Your enthusiasm and excitement to help children with Austism and behavior disorders was and will always be engraved in our minds and hearts. You heart and your love for these kids always burned so brightly and showed in all you did for them. Thank you for what you taught us. Thank you for being that example for us to follow. I will truly miss hearing you say "check schedule" in only the way that you could say it. You were and will always be a very special person who did a very special job for very special children.

Thank you again Woolf for all you have taught me. I learned so much about children with Autism from you. I will always miss doing the Woolf howl as you walk the halls of JCS, then hearing the response "here comes that crazy girl" with your smile to follow. This crazy girl will miss you! Until we meet again!
