I remember Scott from Lawrence High School, when we played football. Great memories from school and it sounds like he continued on to have a wonderful Christian family. God bless you Scott and your family. We will see each other again. I understand you had a dog named Buddy. So did I, a great pal!

I had the good fortune to meet Scott in the beginning of my 8th grade year of school. My family moved to Lawrence, and as the awkward new kid in town, I was lucky enough to have Scott, for some unknown reason befriend me. It could have been because I was into sports and music as he was, or maybe we had a class together, but to be honest with you, it was so long ago that I can't really remember. What I do remember is that Scott, from the time that I met him, treated me like a brother, like he'd known me forever, and that he came from a loving family, that I also had the privilege to meet and get to know. We kept in touch over the years, and although it saddens me to know that he is no longer in this world, it bring joy to my heart to know that I had the good fortune to have him in my life while he was here. Paula, Anna, Kayla, Michael, Mrs Hedges, Laura, Blake, (and all the rest of his family and friends), I am so sorry for your (our) loss, but I would like to let you know, that at the same time, I am happy, and celebrating the fact that I was lucky enough to have Scott in my life, and that it is richer and fuller because of that. Much love, Kimo

Dear Family of Scott: We knew Scott because he was a friend to our son, Jeff at LHS. We remember him as a quiet guy and very nice. It is a sad time for everyone who knew him; family and friends alike. We have the evidence and assurance that we will meet him again as fellow believers in Jesus Christ. Scott has joined his father et al in a heavenly reunion. There is nothing to compare with this. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has prepared for those whom He loves. Rest in the knowledge that Scoot has entered into his rest; into a wonderful and eternal future. Lots of love in Jesus, Carl and Joyce Burkhead.

My deepest condolences to Scott's wife, children, mother and entire Hedges family. It is obvious by all the sentiment on FB that he had many friends and touched many lives. I can't help but think with seeing his interest in physics that he now holds the secrets to the universe. May he rest in peace.
