Roger Robinson Obituary

Roger James Robinson, age 76, of Leavenworth, KS died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Born August 20, 1941, in Springville, Utah. He was the son of the late Elmer and Jennie (Hughes) Robinson.

Roger grew up in Mapleton, Utah with his many siblings. Roger was the 7th of 14 children. He joined the U.S. Army on January 21, 1959 at the age of 17, and served for 30 years. He served 3 tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and so many others. He retired in 1989 at USA Disciplinary Barracks TRADOC, Fort Leavenworth, KS at the rank of MSG/E-8.

Roger married Carol Ann Bates on December 3, 1961. They were happily married for 47 years until Carol's death in 2008.

Roger enjoyed fishing, playing cards, especially poker, telling jokes and making people smile and laugh. He loved spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren. He was wise, kind, and loving but still tough as nails. He liked to stay busy and was always doing something for someone else. Thats who he was! He was so much to so many, it's impossible to put it all into words.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Robinson family on the loss of your Father, grandfather, great-grand-father, mentor and dear friend. Roger was my mentor while serving in the United States Army, and dear friend in life as a whole. Rogers sense of humor and outlook on life was untouchable. I will always remember when I would see him he always a joke to tell and was always smiling. R.I.P. my friend.
