Roberta Flory Obituary
Funeral service for Roberta Jean Flory, 84, Lawrence, will be 10 am Monday, Jan. 27, at Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Washington Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Flory died Thursday at Baldwin Healthcare Center. She was born Jan. 28, 1929 in Ottawa, the daughter of Louis Emery and Grace Roseta Taylor Turner.
She worked at India and Kaw Valley schools for 22 years and along with her husband owned and operated the Bungalow Laundry Mat for several years.
She married Calvin Fox Flory on Apr. 9, 1950. He died Jan 22, 2007.
Survivors include a son Stan Flory and wife Michelle of Lawrence, daughter Carol Taul and husband Jimmie of Baldwin City, brother Eldon Turner of Ottawa, sister Doris Sullivant of Lawrence, brother and sister in law Raymond and Caroline Flory of Lawrence, grandchildren Pete Flory, J.J. Keltner, Nickie Harding, Levi Flory, Katy Boehm, Tyler Flory, great-grandchildren Hunter Harding, Leanna Flory, Oscar Keltner, Caden Keltner and Kylie Keltner.
Friends may visit Sunday noon to 8pm. and the family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Grace Hospice, Heifer Project International or Central United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Mrs. Flory was the best. Every time you seen her coming down the hallway or into a classroom she always had a bright smile. She always cared about each student and knew everyone by name. She will be truly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to all her family and friends.

Jean was such a wonderful person & a dear friend to our whole family. She truly had a servant's heart. Jean was my dad's secretary at India/Kaw Valley for many years. Her Agape Love was shown for others at work, at church and at home. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of her kind, gentle spirit.

I have so many fond memories of Jean as the secretary of India school. I was a rather scared beginning teacher and Jean took me under her wing and helped me a lot. She was kind, helpful and she had a cool sense of humor. She was a very caring person to have in the office and she was great with the children. I am so glad that she was there to help me become a teacher.

I will miss my beautiful friend, Jean and her yummy cookies that tasted exactly like my Grandmas. I always enjoyed our time together and will miss her presence in my life. I pray God will surround her family and friends with his loving embrace as we journey through our grief.
