Robert Lowe Obituary

Robert Lowe was born August 13, 1938 in Goodland, KS to Frank A and Katherine J Lowe. Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, was raised in Winona, KS where he graduated from Winona High School in 1956. He then attended the University of Kansas, was on the KU men's basketball practice team and met his future wife Anne. In 1962 he married Anne L Stoner in Oskaloosa and they made their home in Lawrence until he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education. Bob and Anne then returned to Winona and raised their family for 55 years. During that time, they purchased a second home in a lake community near McLouth, KS where they lived full time until his passing.

Bob taught high school math and science. He also coached high school basketball in Monument, Winona and Brewster, KS and farmed in the evenings for ten years. In 1974, he became a full-time farmer and rancher which remained his career until he retired. He loved working with his Black Angus cattle, fighting the mustard weed in his irrigated alfalfa fields, and always trying to get through one harvest without a breakdown. Wheat harvest was always a special time working as a family and fixing any breakdowns as they occurred. He was an excellent mechanic. He spent his free time doing things he loved; flying his Mooney planes, gardening, riding his motorcycle, traveling, reading, fishing, telling stories to his grandchildren and letting them drive as he took them to check cattle. He was a lover of animals. His dogs were his favorite and could always be found by his side. Bob was a volunteer ambulance driver and participated in the United Methodist Choir where he sang alongside many of his friends.

Bob is survived by his wife Anne of 60 years, his children James (Bonnie) Lowe, Jane Keller, Wendy (Trevor) Curry, Julia (Brad) Steeples, grandchildren Chase, Nolan, Audrey, Danielle (Joey), Brogan, Kinsey, Taylor, Madison, Trenton, Melody, Jordan, Tanner, Gloria, and great-grandchild Patrick.

The family will have a service at a later date.

We are so sad to remember this classmate is gone. Larry was no longer able to travel and so we missed his memorial. It was always a highlight of the reunions that we looked forward to seeing and visiting with Bob. God Bless all of his family. We hope Ann is doing well! Larry and Dalene Werner

So very sorry to learn of this loss - a classmate of Larry Werner from 1st. grade through high school. And for me a friend and classmate through high school. We always looked forward to reunions where we were sure to see him and get to visit and catch up. We wish God's Blessings and prayers for Ann and their whole family.
