Richard A. Zimmerman

Richard A. Zimmerman "Dick", 69, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at his home. Funeral services were held at 9:30 am, Tue., Feb. 5, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Burial followed in the Leavenworth Veteran's Administration National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. Friends called at the visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Mon., Feb. 4th, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Program or to Prostate Cancer Research in care of the funeral home. Dick was born to Pearl and Jacob Zimmerman on Dec. 3, 1943 in Marysville, KS and attended Marysville High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam in the late 1960's. He retired from Harcross Chemical. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife Sharon Zimmerman and children Philip Bradshaw (Brea); Christina Bialek (Steven); Jennifer Kim (Ben); Craig Shanks (Pam); Kristin Davis (Greg); and Ryan Shanks. A sister Lucille Butler and 2 brothers Eldon and Kenneth Zimmerman and his Brother-in-law John Heimer (Cheryl) and a former wife Vickie Bradshaw. 11 Grandchildren Paige, Brooke, Jaiden, Rylee, Payton, Meghan, Caitlin, Alex, Zachary, Michaela and Madison and 1 on the way. Dick and I worked at harcros together for some years. I valued his friendship and trust. Really going to miss him. He spoke about his family often and how proud he was of them. God Bless you Dick and all the members of your family
