Richard Stumbo Obituary

Richard Stumbo, 88, of Madison, WI, passed away on January 14, 2024, in Madison. He was born July 11, 1935, in Falls City, NE. He married Virginia Timby on February 14, 1960, in Kansas City, KS. He lived in Lawrence for 12 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Virginia, his daughter, Amy Knupp, son-in-law, Justin Knupp, and two grandchildren, Aria and Colton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Richard earned a bachelor's degree at Carleton College and a master's degree at the University of Kansas. He was an English professor and worked in public relations for the State of Iowa.

Richard's hobbies included reading, photography, stamp collecting, and loudly cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He also enjoyed playing bridge and watching tennis.

A memorial service is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
