It is hard to write when I do not know those left behind...but I get the "left behind" for sure...I have lived it in the loss of my own husband. I met Dick in a real estate transaction some 22 years ago. I had sold a property that he was the listing agent...my dad died back East smack in the middle of nearing closing. I was unprepared at the time for the Closing, called Dick in sorrow and a surreal and troubled state. I will always remember him as a consumate professional. His words to me as I had to quickly leave for PA were, "I am so sorry, Becky..I will cover everything..just go. " (and he did just that!) I wondered at that time what was so very gentle and special about this man...and really never knew him outside of real estate. Reading his obituary explains the God touched soul that supported me so in that dark time of my life. I am ever grateful for Dick Benton and have identified him as a true gentleman and a consumate professional to the many in my profession whom I have shared this story with over the years. By all means, my "favored gentleman" Realtor in Lawrence, KS. May he abide in our Lord forever and Amen.
